Here's what happened this week in my running and aerial world.
Monday - I think I rested. it must of been good since I don't really remember it. I think work was a little nuts that day so that explains the lack of memory, I just black it all out.
Tuesday - Aerial was so fun, as usual. We're reviewing a lot of basic stuff slowly and going through each step which I thought would be terrible but it's revealing a lot of my cheats on certain moves. Apparently my straddle ups stink and I do a lot of jumping from the ground to help myself. If you'll notice, there is no where to jump from when I'm in the air, so unlearning this habit is a must. Goal set.
Wednesday - I had high hopes to get a run in this morning but since aerial sort of runs into my bed time if I'm going to make an AM run, it didn't happen. I'm okay with this because I love sleep. I ended up running on the treadmill after work for an hour. My pace readout is still wonky so I just went for time. It felt good and eee zee.
Thursday - Same as the day before only a shorter run. The week was catching up to me a bit so my energy was low, but glad I got to get some miles in.
Friday - My mom came to visit, we drank some good red wine and she made a delicious dinner. I love mom.
Saturday - Finally some outside miles. It was a serious downpour but I'm still in love with my watch so it was enough motivation to get out the door and get soaked. My rain jacket is actually a windbreaker so it was just neon green skin for the entire run. I almost quit at .33 miles and turned around because my knee was aching, so I rerouted but then ended up just going with it for 5 miles. I'm confused about my knee. It feels tight and actually feels better most runs as it goes on. I'm just going with it. Also got in a bit of a hill climb that was fun. (Sometimes I like hills, most of the time I hate them. I never know which what it's going to go.)
Sunday - 3 miles before everyone got going for the day after guzzling my own pot of coffee. It was sunny and beautiful, such a change from the day before and I loved every struggling second of it.
I also went to my first Aerial Review session today. It's an hour of getting to work on whatever you want after about 20 minutes of warmup. I think I'll do better when I have something specific to work on, this time I didn't have a clear plan of what to work through and didn't know where to start. One of the girls there had a list of moves she wanted to practice, I think this is a good strategy I'm going to borrow. I did get a few climbs in and for some reason that made it worth it enough for me. I like getting that practice and time in the air.
Recap - My indoor miles were more painful on my knee and legs than the outdoor miles and were more of a mental challenge than usual. My outdoor miles were tougher on my lungs and overall "this is hard" sense, but my legs felt better. Aerial felt good and really beneficial this week, like a week where I feel like I got stronger in the tiniest way that I will be grateful for later.
My goal was 4 days of running and 2 days of aerial, and I accomplished both. Last week gets two thumbs up. Now to pack up my first capsule wardrobe and load up season 2. I am stoked! I don't have everything just yet, but man am I excited to swap out some pieces and get into some new shoes.
