I woke up this morning after having a night full of dreams about being late to work and waking up off and on to check the time. Work is going to be busier this week than it has been in a while so I think I was a little anxious before going in. I was also a little worried about how aerial was going to go since it has been 2 weeks since I've been. My plan to do extra conditioning didn't totally pan out and it showed a bit today in class.
Today was 'demonstration day' since it is the last of the session so we had most of the class time to play on the rope/silk/trapeze and review what we'd learned so far. I was not feeling like my most confident self and didn't have my best class, but it was still fun as usual. I tried hip keys on both sides on rope and was about 70% on each. That's actually not bad considering it's usually one side 90% and the other 5% success. Next week I start in a new class that's twice as long and will definitely be pushing my aerial endurance. I feel like my endurance was so-so today but my memory was way off. It took me about 5 minutes of sitting on the trapeze to get into gazelle correctly. How many times does my coach have to encourage me to really 'get it between my cheeks' before I can do it correctly? #aerialproblems I did manage to do the super crotch pinchy thing with a lot less pain the second time around. Tiny progress is better than no progress.
Here are some of the things that I couldn't remember in class today but should have down after having finished this session:
Silk/Rope: Regular Climb, Russian Climb, Elevator Descent, Catchers, Single/Double Foot Lock, and this hang upside down thing:
Trapeze: Basket, Catchers, Pull Over, Body Beats/Holds, Gazelle, Lamp Post, Arabesque, pinchy thing, Star/Side Star, Mermaid
I'm super excited for the next session starting next week and equal parts freaked out that I'm in a little over my head. Since it's a 1/2 class I'm anxious to be surrounded by people way better than me, but I also love watching aerial so getting to see other people who are good at it will be entertaining at least. Even if I make a complete fool of myself, I'll get a good show. Haha.
Oh, last night I signed up for a half in November and I think both of my BFFs will make it. It's on a trail and there is chocolate, so now I just need to figure out a training plan for 7 weeks. Any ideas? I promise I will be a more courteous finisher this time and not a total jackass. I'm still pretty mortified that I did that yesterday. I'll have to wait and see what was caught on camera...
