Here's a weekly roundup of some of the skills we covered in Aerial 1/2 this week!
This video covers the same-side straddle climb, or straddle climbing on the wrong side and then trying to figure out how to get out of it. This girl does it more times in a row than I could yesterday, but this seems like a good goal.
On rope we worked on Straddle Climbs, pre-Windmill drop wrap, same side Straddle Climbs, regular, and 2x regular climb. On fabric we reviewed bicycle climb, the straddle climbs, and pistons and back balances for conditioning. And on the traps we practiced body beats, front balance beats/holds, and learned a pretty way to get to sitting from a front balance. I think its called 'thread through' or something that makes total sense like that.
The last two weeks I've gone into Aerial class with maybe a not so great attitude, not feeling like I'm going to very well and not really excited. More anxious about not being able to do stuff instead of thinking positive/successful thoughts if you feel me. But for some reason I have been leaving class so happy and it even carries over to the next day. It's weird and makes me feel like a nutso Pollyanna, but whatever I'll take it. I don't know why I get so anxious beforehand, but it makes me wish I had more gym time to practice. So here are some more youtubes of moves that I'm learning and trying to really internalize before class again next week!
I am happy to say that we've covered 80% of what is reviewed in this video.
And here's one more to just make me feel bad about the sorry situation known as my straddle ups. If you'll excuse me I have to go do some pull ups and core work, brb.
