An update on the last few days:
Friday - rest day. My wonderful friend invited me over for dinner and started the weekend off very nicely. I also bought a new lipstick since the workweek was getting to me a little bit. I decided some hot pink would really help lift my spirits. Combined with a BFF dinner hangout, it absolutely did.
Saturday - Supposed to be 11 miles. Could. Not. Get, Out. Of Bed. Lazy, I know. There's just a lot of motivation questioning happening at times that are not convenient like... when my alarm goes off for a run or when my bed is so very warm. To ensure I got my long run in on Sunday I enlisted the help of my Father in Law and we got some pho. It is one of my fave pre-run meals. Salt + noodles. Perfection.
Sunday - Finally got out the door in the morning to run! There was a lot of back and forth in my mind about this one, some unnecessary anxiety about my legs and then some kind of necessary. My hip flexors on both sides tightened up pretty severely by the last 2 miles in addition to some cool new blisters on my arches around mile 8. It did not look encouraging for my race in 2 weeks Holy Shit. I tried to not let the pace get to me. Yes, this is close to my old half PR. No, there is no way I could hit that now. I gotta just toss my Garmin I think.
10/25: 11 miles, 9:20 avg pace, 1:42:39 total time
After the run and a day spent cleaning, we got to go to the Sounders game and it was amazing! It was my first time seeing them play and they scored 3 goals in about 20 minutes. SO COOL. Plus our seats were great (thanks family!) and it rained most of the time (very Seattle).
Now I guess I'm ready for Monday. Bring It On.
