I'm learning that in some parts of the country at certain places of business, people get Columbus Day off from work. Very interesting. This is about as close as we get here so unlike some, I was at back at work Monday.
Yesterday I was not totally feeling an afternoon run, but I had fueled for it at work already (ate candy) and really needed to wash my hair so after announcing to the world I was just going to wake up early the next day and skip the evening run , I went for it. As usual I am glad I did.
I put on an old pair of Brooks Pure Flows that never quite stuck in the rotation and some shorty shorts, and headed to the treadmill. I decided I would do my short 3 miler for the week and ake it a speed workout so I could hurry up and eat dinner. It was planned as 6.0mph for .1 miles, 7mph until .25, 7.5mph to .5, and 8mph for the rest of the mile. That was it for the first and some of the second mile, but I hovered around 8-8.5mph for the last mile because my headphones died and my internet was sucky. I wanted to see if I could stick with it for that long and hurry up because I lost my source of entertainment. I finished sooner than I expected and walk/jogged a cool down. Sometimes I just need a good excuse, any excuse, even bathing will do, to get the run started and then I'm happier for it. Thank god for high maintenance hair.
10/12: 3.1 mi, 23:50, 7:41 avg pace.
I'll take it.
This little guy is my indoor running dog. Mira will run with me outside but my little 3 legged guy likes to hangout next to me while I'm stomping on the treadmill. It makes it that much more tolerable when running inside. I cannot get a picture with his tail in focus, always wagging and always a blur!
I finished up with my aerial conditioning challenge and then getting ready for work the next day. Monday complete.
What's the most random excuse you have given yourself to run or not run?
